We Exiles are sophisticated beings, however we deserve an opportunity to let our inner beast roam free from time to time. And there is no better way to lighten your mood than throwing rocks at stuff. The main idea behind the skills I’m about to show you was to expand the Unarmed skill portfolio by a ranged projectile attack. Without further delay, let’s look at the core skill gem.
Rock Throw

This attack throws rock at an enemy that explodes on impact, the primary target receives both the initial projectile damage and the explosion damage. It can be used with Unarmed as stated above and with maces. Why maces? Because baseball that’s why! The skill doesn’t use the base damage of the Mace, but copies its Attack Speed. It has a low added damage effectiveness so that added cold damage support doesn’t triple the damage it deals. It’s a white skill gem that requires a bit of all attributes which is the foundation of its alternatives.
Threshold jewels
Now I’m not a huge fan of Threshold jewels in their current state as they are either ‘a must have’ to make the skill feel good, or a vendor trash. However the way the following Threshold Jewels work is a bit different from the current ones. You can only use 1 of the following Threshold Jewels.
Insurmountable Might
Puny men and their rocks. I’m a god in the coat of a men. I don’t need a trebuchet, I’m the Trebuchet.
Boulder toss
This purely Physical attack is the manifestation of pure destruction. It has high base phys damage for both the projectile and the explosion and high added damage effectiveness. The downside is that it cannot Pierce, Chain, Fork, gain any additional projectiles and has 0% base crit chance.
Trifling Assault
Let’s see how many times will this jump when I toss it.
Who hasn’t thrown a pebble at the water surface to see the number of jumps it can do? What? Malachai hasn’t? Well he was always hoarding all of his rocks. Socketing this TJ transfers Rock Throw into Pebble Fling, a green dexterity gem requiring only Dex.
Pebble Fling
This attack no longer explodes, however it chains and forks. It might be more balanced to make it unable to gain more projectiles with increased damage, but it’s a Dex gem! It should be able to use Dex supports! With its increased crit chance and potential to clear the map in 1 fling it’s a great clear skill. The X% more damage per remaining chain should increase the single target a bit. I considered to make it fire projectiles in a cone, however we don’t need second barrage. It is usable only with Unarmed.

Gem Hail
This gem has its own variants as you can see. The kind of elemental damage it deals is based on the colour of the socket its put in. It deals low damage per projectile, doesn’t explode on impact and has low added damage effectiveness, however it penetrates targets and shoots multiple projectiles at once. And it can also be used with wands. Coz magicians. They solve problems differently. It has increased mana cost and 6% crit chance.
